Testimonials

Man, daughter, and grand daughter

Thanks so much for your generous gift. Your partnership is giving help and hope to our neighbors in need.

The work of City Mission is by its very nature difficult. Each day our shelters are filled with homeless men, women and children, and our dining center is crowded with those who are hungry. People come here for clothing, for help at our medical clinic, or sometimes because they are lonely and need someone to talk with.

Each day I thank God for partners like you who make it possible for us to help so many people in so many different ways. I am also thankful for the testimonies of individuals whose lives have been touched and changed. Eddie is one of these individuals.

Eddie came to the Mission several years ago after having experienced many struggles and failures in his life. These struggles made him doubtful that his life would ever get better. Although the challenges facing Eddie were significant, it soon became apparent that he was a talented young man. As he continued to grow, we realized that his skills and life experiences were a good fit with the work of City Mission. Eddie enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to serve. Today Eddie is a valuable member of our team. He is also highly respected by many leaders in our community.

Eddie recently received an award from Schenectady County Office of Community Services. Here are some of the words that were shared to describe his dedicated service:

“Eddie has always gone above and beyond…his ability to see the humanity of everyone he encounters puts him in a league of his own…He has shown dedication to helping individuals who are homeless and struggling with addiction or mental health…He epitomizes service to the community.”

Thanks for your example of caring. It is inspiring to give thanks by giving back.

Thanks for making a place in your hearts for City Mission and those we serve.

Thank you, Kelly, for all you and your team at Judson Meadows do for my mother and the other residents to keep them safe and comfortable. You are a blessing to my siblings and myself as well because we feel assured to know you have the situation under control. You’ve got this!!

I long for the day when I can, once again, visit my mom face-to-face. I know she does, too. It has been a long time and probably will be longer yet. No worries. She’s happy and content. Thanks again. Sincere regards from me and my family.

I just wanted to say on behalf of myself and both my sisters, a very appreciative thank you to you and the entire staff at Judson Meadows. Our Mom truly loves being there and we could not ask for any better care and love then she receives from all of you.

My sister gets your updates weekly and passes them along to both myself and Julie. I can’t imagine all the work that is entailed during these unprecedented times. I am sure it is challenging at times to keep up with all the state and county mandates/requirements as well as dealing with all the residents. It is hard to be on the inside not able to get out and on the outside not being able to get in.

Kathy and I were able to participate in the parade on Friday – we were thrilled to see so many others there with us as well as being able to see not only our Mom but all the other residents out there waving and cheering. I think my favorite sign of all was the one woman that said “Bring Wine”. Loved it. We had a great time – so much fun – a combination of laughter and tears (we both got a little emotional the first time through the loop). That afternoon is a memory we will treasure always.
