Hope for a Brighter Tomorrow
As much as Judson Meadows is a non-medical model community, we still provide services and support to attain and maintain a healthy lifestyle in a health care facility regulated by the New York State Department of Health. The majority of businesses, including restaurants, supermarkets, and hardware stores in New York State are not regulated by NYSDOH standards and have been able to relax their COVID-19 safety precautions. In most supermarkets there were arrows pointing which direction you should go down an aisle, distance markers at the check-out, and masks most definitely were mandatory. Much of that outside health care environments has changed. Going into stores or restaurants now is getting back to normal.
In assisted living communities with varying licenses, such as Judson Meadows, we are still under some precautions that New York State Department of Health is requiring in an effort to keep our older population safe. The staff and residents are still wearing masks, and any visitors are still required to wear them. We are still doing our daily screenings prior to starting our shift in an effort to keep out any sort of virus.
Although we are under safety precautions, we are getting back to normal. We are back to serving all three meals in the dining room. Our beautician is coming in on a regular schedule, which is making our residents very happy. That is one of the things they missed the most. Families are able to visit and also take their loved ones out to enjoy the summer weather or a special occasion. Doctors’ appointments are back in full swing. Even our weekly shopping trips are happening again. So we truly are getting there, yet still being cautious for the sake of our residents’ health and well-being.
